Camera Power Supply Methods Comparison

1. Centralized Power Supply
Power equipment is centrally installed in power and battery rooms. Electrical power is uniformly transformed and distributed to communication equipment. Connect 12V centralized power at 220V source. 12V supply distance should not exceed 100 meters.

Complex initial configuration, high voltage loss for long-distance low-voltage DC supply.
2. Point-to-Point Power Supply
Directly draw 220V AC from the monitoring room and connect a separate DC12V power supply next to the camera.
Low voltage loss during 220V AC transmission, strong anti-interference capability.
Each point requires a power supply, construction is troublesome, high later-stage maintenance difficulty.
3. PoE Power Supply
Technology that provides DC power to other devices under existing Ethernet cabling infrastructure, mainly applied to HD network digital surveillance.

When using IR cameras, centralized power supply is not recommended, as the current may be insufficient when IR is activated affecting performance.
- 02.
Point-to-point power saves cable, but after-sales maintenance is extremely difficult. For long-term solutions, centralized power is recommended.
- 03.
Indoor environments should use quality sheathed power cables to ensure electrical safety and durability.
- 04.
For multiple cameras within 100m distance, PoE power supply is strongly recommended for convenience and speed.
